For more than 20 years one of the top American turtle breeders has worked hard on this unique project.
Finally the fruits of his labor have been rewarded. The first true albino snappers have been forming just in front of our cameras.
In your hands it’s difficult to believe that the whites, reds,
oranges and yellows that are characteristic of albino turtles on snappers – the usual black knobby and gnarled skin is a soft white/yellow and the normal gray and black skin is yellow and pink – and of course,
the eye-catching eyes of red… stunning indeed.
The entire hatch has been coveted – with the exception of for two.
We’re offering these two as the only time. The care and description of them is the same as normal colored snappers. They are described as follows:
The most famous fully aquatic turtles, the Albino Snapping Turtle, inhabits the majority of lakes that are slow moving and soft bottomed waters, fresh and brackish all the way from Nova Scotia to Mexico, east of the Rocky Mountains. In Florida it is a precursor to The Florida Snapping Turtle.
Albino Snapping Turtle are Omnivores. They will eat whatever they can get inside their mouths.
The juveniles will freely hunt in search of food, while adults are more likely to ambush predators who lie waiting for their next food source. These habits ensure that all sizes are great tank turtles.
Not the most popular community turtles or juveniles. Albino Snapping Turtle believe that everyone’s tails are worms, and they will quickly remove them and even snappers.
We feed them pellets, cut fish, and beef. The water plants are also available. One study has demonstrated that hatchlings can imprint easily on food items that were eaten early.
In the past century, people’s love for Albino Snapping Turtle, severely caused the decline of the populations of many wild species.
Nowadays, a lot of them are raised on farms both in the US and around the world. Wild Snapping Turtles are almost always quite vicious.
The snappers raised by captivity, if frequently handled, can be tamed down pretty easily.
They never cease to exhibit their aggressive feeding behavior and keepers can’t seem to lose their fascination with them…
Description
The albino snapping turtle is a rare and fascinating creature that captivates the interest of many reptile enthusiasts and biologists alike. Distinguished by its striking lack of pigmentation, this turtle is a unique variant of the common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina). In this product description, we delve into the characteristics, habitat, and care requirements of the albino snapping turtle.
Distinctive Characteristics
The most notable feature of the albino snapping turtle is its albinism, which results in a pale, almost white shell and skin, and pink or red eyes. This lack of melanin sets it apart visually from its darker-hued counterparts. Despite its unique appearance, the albino snapping turtle shares many physical traits with the common snapping turtle, including a robust, ridged shell, powerful jaws, and a long, spiked tail.
Natural Habitat and Behavior
Albino snapping turtles, like their non-albino relatives, are primarily found in freshwater environments such as ponds, lakes, and slow-moving rivers. They are highly adaptable and can thrive in a variety of aquatic settings. These turtles are known for their aggressive behavior when threatened, using their strong jaws as a defense mechanism. However, with proper care and handling, they can become more docile in captivity.
Care and Maintenance
Owning an albino snapping turtle requires a commitment to providing an optimal environment and diet. A spacious tank with clean, filtered water is essential to mimic their natural habitat. It is important to include hiding spots and a basking area to cater to their behavioral needs. Their diet should consist of a balanced mix of protein, such as fish and insects, and vegetation. Regular veterinary check-ups are recommended to ensure their health and well-being.
In conclusion, the albino snapping turtle is a remarkable and rare reptile that offers a unique addition to any collection. Its distinctive appearance and intriguing behaviors make it a subject of fascination and admiration among reptile enthusiasts.
